The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than for licensing
spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce
pet overpopulation and starvation.
Payment for your license
is due annually by January 31st. Early licensing begins December 1st.
Payment Options
You may pay for your
annual animal license in one of the following ways:
Through the mail with a check or money order
made payable to City of Raleigh Animal Licensing,
In person with cash, check or money order
at one of the two City Service Centers, or
If you have received a renewal notice, a blue billing card or a yellow
billing card in the mail, you may be eligible to make
payment online with a major credit card (Visa / MasterCard / AmEx / Discover.
A $1.95 service fee will apply for each electronic payment
Required Paperwork
Please submit a completed renewal form or license application. Be sure
to fill in each pet's current rabies vaccination tag number, vaccination
date and vaccination expiration date (in MM/DD/YY format).
If your pet has been spayed or neutered since the last licensing period,
please have your veterinarian sign the verification box on the form. Alternatively,
you may send in a copy of a spay/neuter certificate or any form signed
by your veterinarian indicating that your pet has been altered.
