Licensing Ordinance

All dogs and cats 8 weeks of age and older must be licensed with the City of Bothell within 30 days of being in the city. Pets over the age of 6 months must have a current rabies vaccination. The City of Bothell does not permit having more than three pets at one residence without a Kennel, Cattery, or Special Hobby Kennel License.

Licensing Locations

You may license your pet in person at Bothell City Hall at 18415 101st Ave NE in Bothell. Please bring your pet's current rabies vaccination certificate and proof of spay/neuter (if applicable) with you.

Required Paperwork

  1. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required for pets over 6 months of age if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and pet information.
  2. Proof of spay/neuter, such as a signed statement from a veterinarian or an invoice for services is required if the pet has been altered since the last licensing period and you are applying for the lower spayed/neutered license fee. A Spay/Neuter Statement is also accepted as proof of spay or neuter provided that the statement is signed by the owner and the date of surgery and clinic which performed the surgery is included.
  3. Proof of age is required to receive the discounted fees for senior citizens age 65 and over.
  4. A signed affidavit is required for the free service dog license.

Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so please retain a copy of your documents for your records.

All dogs and cats age 8 weeks and older in the City of Bothell are required to be licensed.

Unaltered Pet $60.00
Spayed/Neutered Pet $30.00
Juvenile Pet (8 weeks to 6 months old) $15.00

Juvenile Pet License is valid for 6 months from date of purchase.

Sr Owner (65+) w/Altered Pet (Limit 3) $15.00

Proof of owner's age and pet's spay/neuter is required. The payment is made once for the life of the pet, but the license must be renewed annually at no charge.

The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than that for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation.

Due Date

Payment for your license is due within 30 days of the expiration of your current license. If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a dog or cat over the age of 8 weeks or within 30 days of moving into the City of Bothell.

A late fee of $15 is added to the license fee if your license has not been renewed within 30 days of the due date.
