Licensing Ordinance

All dogs 4 months of age and older and residing more than 30 days in either unincorporated Eagle County or an incorporated town other than Basalt must have a current rabies vaccination and are required to be licensed with Eagle County.

Mailing Address

To license by mail:

  1. Enclose a copy of the dog’s current rabies certificate. The license application below may be downloaded and included, but it is not required.
  2. Determine the correct license fee for each of your dogs.
  3. Make your check or money order payable to “Eagle County Animal Services.” Please do not send cash.
  4. Mail your paperwork and payment to:

Required Paperwork

  1. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and dog information.

Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so please retain a copy of your documents for your records.

Licenses cannot be valid longer than the expiration of your dog’s rabies vaccination, so please verify that you have at least two or three years remaining on your dog’s rabies certificate before applying for a two or three-year license.

Due Date

If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a dog over the age of 4 months or within 30 days of moving into Eagle County or obtaining the dog. Renewal licenses are due upon expiration of the prior license.
