Licensing Ordinance

All dogs and cats 6 months of age and older must be licensed with the City of Lenexa within 10 days of being in the city.

A Special Pet Permit is required for three (3) or more dogs and/or three (3) or more cats at any residential address in the City of Lenexa. Please contact Lenexa City Hall at 913-477-7500 for details.

Due Date

Payment for your pet license is due by December 31st of the prior year. If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 10 days of obtaining a dog or cat over the age of 6 months or within 10 days of moving into the City of Lenexa.

License Term

All pet licenses expire on December 31st regardless of the date purchased. Licenses for the following calendar year are due by December 31st and may be purchased after November 1st.
