Licensing Ordinance

All dogs 4 months of age and older must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed with the City of Newport Beach within 30 days of being in the city.

Due Date

Payment for your license is due within 30 days of the expiration of your current license. If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a dog over the age of 4 months or within 30 days of establishing residence in the City of Newport Beach.

A late fee of $5.00 is added if your license has not been renewed within 30 days of the expiration of your license, or if your pet is over 4 months old and you have been in the city more than 30 days.

License Term

The term of your first license begins on date of purchase. The term for renewal licenses begins on the expiration of the prior license. All licenses expire after 1 year or when the rabies vaccination expires, whichever comes first. By state law, the license cannot be valid longer than the term of the rabies vaccination.
