A license must be purchased for the time remaining on your pet's rabies vaccination, and licenses cannot be valid longer than the expiration of your pet's rabies vaccination.

  • If there are 1-12 months before the rabies vaccination expires, purchase a 1-year license.
  • If there are 13-24 months before the rabies vaccination expires, purchase a 2-year license.
  • If there are 25-36 months before the rabies vaccination expires, purchase a 3-year license.

The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation.

Due Date

Payment for your license is due within 30 days of the expiration of your current license. If you are licensing for the first time, the license is due upon obtaining a dog over the age of 4 months or upon moving into the City of Rocklin.

A late fee is added to the license fee if your license is not purchased by the due date. The late fee is $7.16 per month for an unaltered pet and $3.58 per month for a spayed or neutered pet.
