Licensing Ordinance
All dogs and cats 4 months of age and older in Clute, Freeport, and Lake Jackson must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed annually with Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter.

Licensing Locations
Pet owners are encouraged to mail their license application, however, payment may be made in person at the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter at 141 Canna Lane in Lake Jackson. The license tag will be mailed to the pet owner.
Required Paperwork
A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and pet information.

The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than that for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation and starvation.

Due Date
Payment for your license is due within 30 days of your pet’s vaccination date or prior license expiration date.
If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a dog over the age of 4 months or within 30 days of establishing residence in the city of the Clute, Freeport or Lake Jackson.
