License Requirements
Licensing Ordinance
All dogs over the age of four months must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed with Solano County within 30 days of ownership/possession or new residence in Solano County. Persons living in unincorporated areas of the County are also required to license their dogs. Cat licenses may be purchased on a voluntary basis.
Solano County requires dogs to wear the license tag at all times. If the tag is not on the animal, Animal Control Officers are not required to return the dog to the owner's home, and the dog may be impounded at the owner's expense.
Due Date
Payment for your license is due within: 30 days of possession of the dog, 30 days of receiving the rabies vaccination, or 30 days of becoming a new resident of Solano County. If you are renewing a Solano County license, your payment is due on the last day of the month in which your license expires.
By ordinance, a late fee of $15 is added to each license not purchased within 30 days. After 60 days, the late fee increases to $25.
