Licensing Ordinance

All dogs, cats and ferrets 4 months of age and older must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed with the city of Las Vegas. Only residents within the city Limits of Las Vegas are required to license with the city.

The City of Las Vegas pet licensing requirements do not apply to an animal:
(A) Which has been trained, and is actually being used, as a guide animal, hearing animal, assistance animal, or seizure alert animal; and
(B) Whose qualification under Subsection (A) has been documented to the satisfaction of the Animal Protection Services Officer.

Due Date

All dogs, cats and ferrets over the age of 4 months within the city limits of Las Vegas are required to be licensed with the city.

New Licenses: You must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a dog over the age of 4 months or within 30 days of establishing residence in the city of Las Vegas.

Renewal Licenses: You must renew your license within 30 days of the expiration of your prior license. A late fee of $5 is charged for each late renewal.

License Term

Animal Licenses will expire one year from date of issue. Subsequent licenses will expire one year from the expiration of the previous license.
