All dogs and cats 4 months of age and older must be licensed with Montgomery County and continuously vaccinated against rabies. Residents of the City of Rockville and City of Gaithersburg are required to license their pet through their respective Department of Animal Control instead of through Montgomery County.

Licensing Locations
You may license your pet in person at Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd in Derwood, MD. Please bring your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate and spay/neuter certificate (if applicable) with you. - Proof of spay/neuter, such as a rabies vaccination certificate, a signed statement from a veterinarian, or an invoice for services, is required if the pet has been altered since the last licensing period and you are applying for the lower spayed/neutered license fee.
- Proof of pet date of birth or age listed on rabies certificate is required to receive a free juvenile pet license.
- Proof of public assistance, such as an independence card and proof of spay or neuter, is required to receive the discounted fees.
